HAM AND CHEESE BALL
1 lb cheddar cheese 4oz chopped ham 2 gherkins (small sweet pickles) finally chopped 3 tbsp minced onion 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp curry powder Pinch cayenne pepper 2 tbsp tomato ketchup 2 tbsp mayo 1 tsp lemon juice 1 tbsp chopped parsley 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 tsp ground pepper 1/2 cup finally chopped walnuts
Grate cheese iinto a large bowl. Add ham, gherkins, onion, garlic powder, curry powder, cayenne pepper, ketchup, mayo, lemon juice, parsley, salt and pepper. Mix ingredients thoroughly.
Shape mixture into a ball. Roll ball in chopped nuts. Wrap in plastic. Refrigerate 4 hours or until firm.
Good served with melba toast or a variety of crisp crackers.
TIP: Different varieties of leftover cheeses may be grated together and incorporated into a cheese ball. To keep nuts in optimum condition, store them in the freezer. |
