I used to make a clone of Dinardo's crab dipping sauce. I don't remember the exact measurements, but the ingredients are:

stale beer, vinegar, ketchup, lots of paprika, chili powder, water to taste. Salt optional.

Bring mixture to a simmer and cook for approx. 10 minutes.

You can play with the ingredient amounts until you get the taste you want.
