Rolled Sugar Cookies
Sue, here is my favorite rolled out sugar cookie recipe. It's great because it requires no chilling. You can easily half the recipe if you'd like. As far as the frosting goes, I just take powdered sugar and enough milk to make it the right consistency and add food coloring. It's not difficult to do. Enjoy!
4 sticks butter or margarine, room temp.
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
4 tsp. baking powder
6 cups flour
Cream butter and sugar together, add vanilla and eggs, mix well. Mix flour and Baking powder well, and add
to the other ingredients. No chilling necessary. Roll out dough on floured surface.
I bake mine in a convection oven which is very different from a regular oven. I would say bake these at 375 on ungreased cookie sheets for about 6-8 minutes or until light brown. I think you'll have to play with the time for your first batch to see how long you'd prefer to bake them. You can cook them longer if you'd like them to be crispy. I just made several dozen last night. This recipe always comes out great! You can even color the dough if you'd like. You can also leave plain and ice later or sprinkle with colored sugars and bake that way. This is a very versatile recipe.
