SPICY BROILED SWEET POTATOES

4 sweet potatoes
1 1/2 tsp canola oil
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
Grated peel of 1 lemon or orange

Cut potatoes lengthwise into 1-inch-wide wedges. Cut wedges in half crosswise. Steam in a covered saucepan until tender, 12 to 15 minutes.

Coat a broiler pan with 1/2 teaspoon oil. Place wedges, skin side down in pan and drizzle with remaining 1 teaspoon oil.

In a cup, combine cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice. pepper and grated peel. Sprinkle over potatoes.

Broil potatoes until they are lightly charred, 4 to 5 minutes.

Servings: 4

Per serving: 197 calories, 2.3 g fat (10% of calories), 0 mg cholesterol, 24 mg sodium, 5.4 g dietary fiber.
