ONE PAN APPLESAUCE CAKE

2 cups Bisquick baking mix
1 cup applesauce
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
2 eggs
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Ice cream (optional, for serving)

Heat oven to 350 degrees F.

Mix all ingredients except raisins, nuts and ice cream in ungreased square pan, 9x9x2 or 8x8x2 inches, with fork until moistened. Stir vigorously until well blended; stir in raisins and nuts.

Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, 35 to 40 minutes.

Serve warm or cool with ice cream.

High Altitude Directions (3500 to 6500 feet): Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Use ungreased square pan, 9x9x2 inches. Decrease baking mix to 1 3/4 cups and brown sugar to 1/3 cup. Add 1/4 cup all-purpose flour. Bake 30 to 35 minutes.

Makes 1 (8x8 or 9x9-inch) cake
