Recipe(tried): Pork roast dinner
Menus Hi everyone! I have not been posting much in the past year, partly due to being really busy, but also because most of the things not already posted are recipes I've gotten from this board! But, last night I came up with one that is a mixture of several recipes that I have seen, and according to my family, is a big winner. Since we are supposedly having a bunch of company in our new home this summer, we all decided that this was "THE" company dinner.
Center Cut Pork Roast in a Bag
Stuffing w/apple
Dilled Green Beans
Pork Loin Roast
1 Pork Loin Center cut roast (bigger than tenderloins, but not as large as a full loin roast)
2 Tbs flour
One onion - roughly chopped
One Apple - peeled and roughly choppped
salt, pepper, garlic powder, (and any other seasonings of choice)
2 cups apple cider
1 cup white wine
2 tbs Dales seasoning
1/2 package of Lipton beefy onion soup mixSeason meat with salt, pepper, garlic and any other seasoning you like. Brown meat in small amount of hot olive oil. Place a large cooking bag in a 9x13 pan, add the required flour. Then add onions and apples that have been rough chopped. Add browned roast to cooking bag and mix the next 4 ingredients in a large cup and add to cooking bag. Cook for 25 minutes per pound. When done, take roast out of bag and put onto a plate to rest while making the sauce. Drain pan drippings from bag through a strainer into small pot. Discard solids and reduce liquid to about 1 cup. whisk in about 1/2 cup sour cream (I used light sour cream). Slice meat and serve with sauce.
Stuffing on the side:
1 container of stuffing mix- whatever size you prefer
1 apple chopped fine
2 tbs butter
apple juice
Saute chopped apple in butter. When apple is tender, add apple juice in the amount that water is called for in the stuffing mix. Bring to a boil, and follow directions on your stuffing mix. This could be stuffed into the roast, but I chose to make it simply a side dish.
Dilled green beans
3 cans of French cut green beans, drained and rinsed
10 oz of chicken broth, perferably homemade, but I have used canned (just don't add salt)
2 tbs butter
1 teaspoon of dill seed or 1 tbs of dill weed dried (anyway you look at it...lots of dill or to taste)
garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, salt if needed
Put drained and rinsed green beans in a casserole dish. Add all other ingredients and cook on 50% power for 20 minutes, stirring once halfway through cooking.
