Recipe(tried): Birthday Party BBQ suggestions
Holidays, Celebrations I recently had a birthday party for my twins - age 9 and we decided on a barbeque. We served hotdogs/hamburgers with all the toppings. The big hit for them was make your own sundaes. I put out two different kinds of ice cream and then allowed the kids to top it off with hot fudge, caramel, whip cream, various kinds of sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, crushed peanuts, etc. They truly enjoy making their own concoction.
For adults I have served a large crowd (40) shiskabobs. While they are a pain to make, it is easy to barbeque. I simply bought a couple of beef roasts and cut them up. Marinated overnight (store bought marinade). Skewered them with two different kinds of peppers, onion, mushrooms. Used reserved marinade to baste. Served with hash brown potato casserole and a large ceasar salad.
I have also done soulvaki for a large crowd. Marinate a pork roast you have cut into 1" pieces with oil, lemon juice, lots of oregano, salt and pepper. Skewer and barbeque. Serve with rice and greek salad.
Hope this helps.
