I have been searching for an excellent Kahlua type recipe and have found tons! Does anyone know which one is THE best? I have a recipe for Amaretto that I found in a newspaper >25 years ago. I am not able to tell which one, the home made version or the di Sarrono, omg, I can't spell. Anyway, this is a killer recipe. One year my daughter and I have multiple 4 packs of empty coffee drinks. We washed and peeled labels off bottles, painted the caps and cartons. We made 4 different liqueurs for each carton and had Christmas done!

AMARETTO-STYLE LIQUEUR

6 cups sugar
4 cups water
6 ozs. almond extract
2 tablespoons chocolate extract
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
6 cups vodka
1 cup bourbon

Combine sugar and water into a large kettle; bring to a boil. lower heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat; let cool. Stir in the extracts, vodka and bourbon. pour into bottles and let set for at least two weeks.

NOTES:
Alcohol proof is inmaterial. Don't skimp on extracts, the cheap ones make the liqueur taste icky!

The alcohols in the recipe don't matter, brand wise, but the extracts are very important. Enjoy!
