Recipe: Rye Whiskey Cake

Misc.

Rye Whiskey Cake

1 pkg. White or yellow Duncan Hines cake mix
1 cup milk
1/2 cup oil
1 oz. whiskey
4 eggs
1 cup chopped nuts
1 pkg. vanilla instant pudding mix
In large bowl, mix cake and pudding mixes.
Add milk and oil, and eggs (room temp.),
beating well after each egg. Beat at least
5 minutes, add whiskey and beat. Fold in
nuts. Preheat oven to 350. Bake for 45 to
50 minutes. Pour into well greased and
floured 10" tube or bundt pan. Leave in pan
on rack when removed from oven for about 5
minutes until cake pulls away from pan.
Glaze: 3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 lb. butter
1 or 2 ozs. Irish Whiskey
Heat in saucepan until bubbly.
Pike holes in cake (I use skewer). Pour
glaze over cake that has been placed on
serving dish. Keep pouring glaze over cake
until it is all absorbed. Cover with saran
wrap and let it sit for at least 2 days or
longer. I use Irish Whiskey. FREEZES WELL.
I have made this cake the day before I needed
it and it was great.
