Recipe: Hough Date Pudding

HOUGH DATE PUDDING
Source: Lois

2 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
pinch of salt
1/4 cup milk
1/2 lb. dates, chopped
1 cup nuts
vanilla to taste
1/4 lb. (1/2 cup) butter, softened
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 cups boiling water

Mix eggs and sugar. Add dry ingredients, alternate with milk, dates and nuts. Stir in vanilla. Pour in pan.

Mix 1/4 pound butter, 1 1/2 cups brown sugar and 2 cups boiling water. Pour over batter.

Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.
